Garden Hose - Life Support For Plants

Imagine a house surrounded by a big garden with lots of flowering and decorative plants – the very thought of it is refreshing. However, watering and maintaining them is not really an appealing idea. It would not be possible to draw water into containers and water each and every plant in a large area, as it would not only be strenuous but also time consuming. To ease this problem, the garden hose was devised, using which you can water a bigger lawn without any problem. Moreover, you stand to save a lot of time. It is truly a life support tool for the plants.

You get sprayers, sprinklers, and other small attachments along with a garden hose, available in many colors. You can get a garden hose in a synthetic rubber material or soft plastic mixed with fibers so that it does not break. There are different types of hoses depending on the type of material used: rubber, rubber-vinyl, vinyl, and flat garden hoses. The rubber-vinyl variety is divided into two types, one using a foamed cover and the other using a non-foamed cover. Similarly, the flat garden hose is divided into two types. While one is similar to the reinforced vinyl hose, the other one is made of polyurethane liner.

With a tougher exterior, a garden hose can withstand the wear and tear from scraping hard objects or from people stepping on them etc. However, they are flexible and can be carried to their lengths to any corner of your garden without you feeling the burden of carrying them. One end of the hose is fitted to the water source and the other end is attached to sprinklers or sprayers according to the requirement.

Sometimes, your garden might be bigger in size and the length of the hose may not be enough to cover the entire area. To solve this problem, you can connect hoses to threads at each end that are similar in size to increase the length. Moreover, there is a rubber seal at one end to prevent leakage. The longevity depends on the quality, usage and its maintenance. Make sure that you wound it and keep it in a place where it does not get stamped on. Also, take note that rubber seal may wear or fall off with usage, which also might cause leakages.

Often we forget to drain the water accumulated in the pipe, which often leads to the growth of bacteria or moss inside the hosepipe. This may not affect the plants but can cause damage to the pipe. Plants would get the exact amount of water they require when you use the garden hose, and therefore, is appropriately a lifesaver. Sometimes, however, you might be too generous and water the plants excessively. This not only results in wastage of water but also might harm the tiny plants.

You might be surprised to know that a garden hose can be a wonderful gift idea, mostly for your near and dear ones and of course, those with large garden area. The recipient would be delighted with a garden hose, a plants’ life support tool, as it also reveals your thoughtfulness.
